Content Editor

The Content Editor is a tool designed to help create effective and competitive content. It leverages data-driven insights to assist authors by displaying relevant keywords in real-time as they write. This feature aims to meet reader expectations and improve the content's relevance for Google searches, eliminating the need for extensive SEO research. The keywords are derived from a briefing, which is based on data from the Searchmetrics Research Cloud.

Real-time Recommendations for Keyword Coverage

Within the Content Editor, authors can view core information about their text, such as topics and URLs, which is useful for updating existing content. The text can be placed in a designated field and optimized for specific topics. Keywords necessary for competitiveness are displayed on the left, updating live as the content is written. These keyword suggestions are categorized into three groups:

  • Must-have keywords are crucial for the topic and essential for achieving high search engine rankings. They are commonly used by competitors.
  • Recommended keywords are widely used by competitors and are important for creating comprehensive content, although they are less critical than must-have keywords.
  • Additional keywords are not vital but can enhance the uniqueness of the content, helping it stand out from competitors and potentially improving search engine rankings.

The Content Score

In the Searchmetrics Content Experience, the recommended keyword section shows real-time tracking of how well the content aligns with the recommendations. It displays the number of keywords used versus those still needed.

The Content Editor provides various scores that assess the text's editorial effectiveness in real-time. The content score is a key indicator of how thoroughly the text addresses the recommended topics. It reflects the usage of suggested keywords, text length, and a unique Searchmetrics evaluation. A higher content score indicates better topic coverage and increases the chance of the text being deemed relevant and ranked favorably by search engines.

The word count score compares the current text length to the target word count set in the briefing. For existing websites, it also shows the difference from the original word count. The target is based on competitor averages and impacts the recommended keyword frequency.

The readability score, inspired by the "Flesch-Kincaid readability tests," measures the text's ease of comprehension. It considers average sentence length and syllable count per word, with scores ranging from 0 to 12. A higher score indicates greater readability.
